Directions to Rocky Point Mexico
Directions from Phoenix:
- Take the I-10 West to the end of town (Buckeye Area).
- Take Hwy 85 South to Gila Bend, this is the same exit as I-8 to San Diego.
- You will drive through Gila Bend until you will see a Mc Donald’s. There is a turn right before the Mc Donald’s that is the continuation of Hwy 85 South (90 more minutes until the border). The border town is called Lukeville.
- Follow Hwy 85 straight through into Mexico. You will have 2 turns to make into the town of Sonoyta. Just follow the signs overhead that point to Pto. Peñasco (Puerto Penasco is the Spanish name for Rocky Point).
- You now have about 60 more miles until you are in Rocky Point.
Directions from Phoenix and the South East Valley:
- Take I-10 East to the Queen Creek Rd Hwy 347 exit. Head South on Maricopa (347).
- Travel about 10 Miles and look for Hwy 238 West. (Mile Post 175).
- Travel West on Hwy 238 for about an hour until you get to Hwy 85 outside of Gila Bend. Turn left heading West into Gila Bend.
- You will drive through Gila Bend until you will see a Mc Donald’s. There is a turn right before the Mc Donald’s that is the continuation of Hwy 85 South (90 more minutes until the border). The border town is called Lukeville.

- Take the I-10 West to I-8 (a little before Casa Grande)
- Take I-8 West to Gila Bend, take the 2nd exit and turn Left on Hwy 85 South. ( OR right for Gila Bend).
- Follow Hwy 85 straight through into Mexico. You will have 90 more minutes.
- You will have 2 turns to make into the town of Sonoyta. Just follow the signs overhead that point to Pto. Peñasco (Puerto Penasco is the Spanish name for Rocky Point).
- You now have about 60 more miles until you are in Rocky Point.
Directions from San Diego (Southern California / Yuma):
- Take the I-8 to Gila Bend.
- You will just barely enter into Gila Bend and take a left directly after the McDonalds onto Hwy 85.
- Follow Hwy 85 straight through into Mexico. You will have 90 more minutes.
- You will have 2 turns to make into the town of Sonoyta. Just follow all the signs overhead that point to Pto. Penasco (Puerto Penasco is the Spanish name for Rocky Point).
- You now have about 60 more miles until you are in Rocky Point.
